Color is what LaBara is known for. Balayage and foilayage, babylights, highlights and lowlights, gloss, all-over color, and gray coverage — all of it built around your skin tone and your hair’s actual history rather than a photo on a phone.
We work in Redken and Schwarzkopf Professional, and every color service begins with a conversation about what will genuinely suit you and how much upkeep you want to sign up for.
how we approach color
A shade that looks extraordinary on someone else can fall flat on you, and it usually has nothing to do with the formula. It has to do with your skin’s undertone, your eye color, and how your hair behaves when it lifts.
So before we mix anything, we look at all three.
Warm, cool, or neutral undertones decide whether a color reads as luminous or washes you out. We hold shades against your skin in the salon’s own light before committing, because a swatch under a phone screen tells you almost nothing.
Old color, box dye, previous lightening, and how porous your hair is all change what’s achievable in one sitting. We’d rather tell you it’s a two-visit plan up front than damage your hair chasing a one-day result.
A hard regrowth line means a salon visit every four weeks. Hand-painted work grows out softly and buys you three or four months. Neither is better — but you should choose knowingly, not find out later.
color services & pricing
Every price below is a starting point. Length, density, and how much hair we’re working with all move the final number, so your colorist confirms the price with you before any color is mixed.
Where every first-time color and every big change starts. We look at your hair in person, talk through what’s realistic, and plan the service before you commit to it.
Color Consultation
Classic foil work for brightness, depth, or both. Lowlights add back dimension when hair has gone flat or too uniformly light.
Single-process color for a clean, even result, and gloss for shine, tone correction, and refreshing color between full services.
Full coverage when you want the gray gone, or camouflage and root blending when you’d rather soften the line and stretch the time between visits. Gray coverage also combines with any of the dimensional services above.
Coming to us from another salon with color that didn’t go to plan? That starts with a consultation rather than a booked service — see color correction.
what to expect
We look at your hair in daylight, talk through what you want, and check what your hair can take. You’ll hear an honest answer about whether it’s one visit or two.
Before anything is mixed, your colorist confirms the service and what it will cost. No surprises at the desk.
Depending on the service this runs anywhere from under an hour to most of an afternoon. Coffee, tea, and a glass of something are on us.
before you book
The number one reason color fades early isn’t the color — it’s what you wash it with at home. A balayage that should carry you four months can go brassy in six weeks on a stripping shampoo.
We retail the same Redken and Schwarzkopf take-home ranges we use in the bowl, formulated around the same chemistry, plus Bumble and bumble for styling. Your colorist will point you to the two or three that suit your hair — not a shelf full.
before you book
Color starts at $125 for gray coverage and $165 for express all-over color. Dimensional work starts at $165 for face frame highlights, $195 for face frame balayage, and $305 for bleach and tone. Every price is a starting point, because the final cost depends on your hair’s length, density, and history. Your colorist confirms the price before any color is mixed.
For any first-time color, any major change, and anything involving lightening, yes. The consultation is $50 and lets us look at your hair in person, check its history, and plan the service before you commit. If you’re already a color guest coming in for a routine visit, book the service directly.
Redken and Schwarzkopf Professional. We use Schwarzkopf’s lightening system for most balayage and blonding work, and reach for Redken on protein-and-moisture balance work like corrections and compromised hair. More on both on our products page.
Both are hand-painted. Balayage is painted and left open to lift softly in the air, which gives a gentler, more blended result. Foilayage is painted and then wrapped in foil, which drives more lift and reaches a brighter blonde. Your colorist picks between them based on how light you want to go and what your hair can take.
Hand-painted work like balayage and babylights is designed to grow out softly, so most guests return every three to four months. All-over color and gray coverage need more frequent visits, usually every four to six weeks, because the regrowth line is a hard edge rather than a blend.
Often, yes — but it starts with a consultation rather than a booked service. Corrections depend on what’s already on the hair and how much it can take in one visit, and some need to be staged across more than one appointment. See color correction.
